Configure Case Mail Certificates for Web Browsers
This document was created to assist users whom access Case Mail from the Texas Court system websites. Since the Office of Court Administration issues self-signed certificates to the Case Mail system, a message will display in Internet Explorer and Mozilla FireFox which indicates security certificate issues. Please use the procedure below to import the certificates into your associated web browser to remove the certificate message. Below are screenshot examples of the messages that are displayed.

Internet Explorer (Message only displays in Internet Explorer 7 and above)
Mozilla FireFox
Which procedure you use depends on which operating system you are running and which browser you use. Please select the procedure which reflects your configuration.

Windows 7 or Vista operating system with Internet Explorer 7 and above

Windows XP operating system with Internet Explorer 7 and above

Firefox on Windows 7, Vista, or Windows XP

If you still experience problems accessing Case Mail, follow the Certificate Removal Process for Internet Explorer process to delete the old Texas Courts Online security certificate.


Windows 7 or Windows Vista OS with Internet Explorer 7 and above
Click the Import Certificate button below and follow the instructions under the button.
Click the Open button (if Open is not an option, click the Run button)
Click the Install Certificate... button.
Click the Next button on the Certificate Import Wizard.
Check Place all certificates in the following store then click the Browse... button.
Click on Trusted Root Certification Authorities then click the OK button.
Confirm that you have the correct Certificate store then click the Next > button.
To complete the import process click the Finish button.
Click the Yes button on the Security Warning.
Click the OK button.
Now click the OK button on the Certificate window.


Windows XP OS with Internet Explorer 7 and above
There are 2 processes available.
1. Auto Install Security Certificate (launches new browser window)
OR
2. Manually Import(scroll down to the Instructions for Manually Importing Security Certificate section)
Instructions for Auto Install Security Certificate
Click the Yes button on the Potential Scripting Violation warning
Click the Yes button on the Security Warning
From here you can either close the browser window or click the Texas Courts Online link to return to the TCO home page.
Instructions for Manually Importing Security Certificate
Click the Import Certificate button
Click the Open button (if Open is not an option, click the Run button)
Click the Install Certificate... button.
Click the Next button on the Certificate Import Wizard.
Check Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate, then click the Next button.
To complete the import process click the Finish button.
Click the Yes button on the Security Warning.
Click the OK button.
Now click the OK button on the Certificate window.


Follow these instructions if you are using a Firefox browser
Click the Import Certificate button
Select Save File and click the OK button
Select a location to save the certificate file and click the Save button.
It's possible that your Firefox browser is configured to save downloaded files in your Desktop > My Documents > Downloads folder.  If you want to know where downloaded files are saved, click on  Tools > Options, then select the Main tab.  Look in the Downloads section to see where your files will be downloaded to.  If Save files to is checked, click the Browse button to find the correct location.  You will need to know this for the next step.
Click on  Tools > Options, then select the Advanced Icon and click on the Encryption tab. Next click the View Certificates button.
In the Certificate Manager, select the Authorities tab and click the Import button.
Navigate to where you downloaded the security certificate, select the base64.cer certificate file and click the Open button.
Check Trust this CA to identify web sites then click the OK button.
Scroll down through the certificates and confirm that the Texas Courts Online certificate was imported. Click the OK button.
Click the OK button in the Options window to compolete the imoprt process.


Certificate Removal Process for Internet Explorer
After installing the certificate, if your browser displays something similar to the screenshot below, follow the instructions under the screenshot. (Internet Explorer Only)
1. In the menu bar of the browser, click Tools then Internet Options.
2. Click on the Content tab, then click on the Certificate button.
3. Selecte the Trusted Root Certification Authorities tab, scroll down and select the Texas Courts Online certificate with the 9/9/2018 expiration date, then click the Remove button.
4. Click the Yes button on the warning.
5. Click the Yes button to delete the old certificate.
Close the Certificates and Internet Options windows. You should now be able to go to the Case Mail login screen. If you are receiving the certificate error message, please follow the manual import process.
